McFadyens
Hugh Simpson (Contractors) Ltd. unloaded two vessels: Hendrik-S on 26/09/2018 and Triton on 28/09/2018 that brought onshore wind turbine components to Wick. The components were then transported to Bad a` Cheo windfarm located off the A9 at Achkeepster, Caithness which consists of up to 13 wind turbines.
David Simpson, the appointed person, said: “The challenge of this operation is the size of the components, which made the deliveries move slowly and required escorting. Lifting had to be carefully planned. We have been involved in lifting operations for every windfarm component coming through Wick harbour and we have the know-how to do the job in a safe manner.”
Hugh Simpson, the managing director, said: “Our team and the McFadyens team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organize the logistics of the day. It’s great to have all come together to help reduce disruption for the local residents, making this a positive experience all round.”
